Day 3 ~ March 22

After Breakfast in the hotel cafeteria, we will be picked up by our Navajo Guides for an excursion into Canyon De Chelly, the sacred place of the Navajo peoples.

We will participate in sacred ceremony with Jorge along the way as we honor Earth/Sky/Heart.

In the early afternoon we will have lunch in the canyon, prepared by our wonderful Navajo Auntie, cooking a traditional Navajo meal.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located in northeastern Arizona within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation. It encompasses some 131 square miles and is unique in that it still supports a small community of Navajo.  This canyon has great spiritual significance for these peoples.  Every spring, after the winter thaw, Navajo families return to their homesteads at the bottom of the canyon where it is believed that human civilization has been sustained for over four thousand years.  It is known that the Anasazi, ancestors of the Hopi, first built their cliff dwellings in this canyon.

After our full day in the canyon we will return the group to Sedona, Arizona and to the Sedona Creative Life Center.

Dinner and Hotel Accommodations on your own.

Note on Meals:  Over the years we have found that our attendees have various food needs and requirements.  When journeying into obscure and remote locations, many times food choices are limited.  In keeping with this experience, we will provide an opportunity to stop at a local grocery store for those that have special needs and have included meals only where it is appropriate to do so. Feel free to bring special foods with you.

Also note: Many people imagine that life on the reservations is what is portrayed in movies or television programming. The reality is that life there is pretty much like life everywhere. People have private homes and jobs etc. Kids go to school, etc. The ability to "see" ceremony is extremely rare and is only available to the public at certain times of the year. We will do our best to provide a "real" experience of these cultures.  This is a very special privilege in our estimation.
